Boy drowns in Nondein river

 NONGSTOIN: A 12-year-old boy identified as Skhemborlin Snaitang of Pyndengrei village drowned on Friday when he went to wash cloths with his sister at river Nondein.

The body was recovered later by the family members. The Nongstoin Police handed over the body to the family members after post-mortem.

Surprise checking : The members of Hynniewtrep Achik’s National Movement (HANM) under the leadership of W. Sohshang on Friday conducted a surprise checking in various offices located under Nongstoin town.

During the visit, the HANM found that the Superintendent of Engineer, PWD and none of the staff other than the Chowkidar were present. They also visited to the offices of Forest, Fishery departments and Nongstoin Block office. The Union will submit a detailed report to the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills District on Monday.

Burglary: Some unidentified miscreants broke upon the office of the Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee Office at Mawkyrwat and stole all the documents related to the office on July 12, a delayed report said on Friday. The matter came to light only on Thursday. An FIR has been lodged in this regard.
