SHILLONG: The State police have denied media reports stating that wanted sub-inspector SN Roy, an accused in a rape case, was spotted in New Delhi recently.

“We have no such inputs that he was spotted in New Delhi,” Superintendent of Police (City) M Kharkarang said on Saturday.

According to reports appeared in a section of the media (not The Shillong Times), the absconding cop was spotted while being engaged in a heated argument with a ticket collector at New Delhi railway station.

Roy and three youth are accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at a hotel here on March 17.

Though the three youth were arrested in this connection, Roy managed to escape and remained elusive till date.

A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against the sub-inspector for making misuse of his power to commit the crime.
