Hotel manager shot dead

Lucknow: A hotel manager was shot dead by a criminal allegedly over petty dispute in Basti district, a senior officer said here on Monday. Rajesh Dubey, who carried a cash reward of Rs 40,000, shot dead Chunnu Sharma (24), manager of Giriraj hotel late last night, Special Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters. He said that Rajesh was later nabbed by people and handed over to the police. Rajesh had been involved in several cases of crime and two 9 mm pistols were recovered from him, he said. The arrested criminal confessed that he executed contract the killing on the directives of Atul Rai, an alleged accomplice of mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, he added. (PTI)
