MeSSA meet

The 30th General meeting of the Meghalaya Schol Service Association (MeSSA)was held recently at Government Girls’Higher Secondary School in Jail Road. The meeting discussed grievances of the teachers and loopholes in the service of teachers and also elected office bearers for three years.

 Tree plantation

A one day tree plantation programme was organised at Kurkalang, Bhoilymbong on Tuesday by the Ri Bhoi District Sports Association in collaboration with the Forest Department. Speaking on the occasion D D Lapang emphasised on the need to preserve the environment. Headmen, teachers and students of different schools attended the programme.

 Fake currency

Fake currency with a face value of Rs 11,500 was seized from a Bangladeshi by the BSF from the international border in Meghalaya on Monday night. A BSF patrol at Umsiam in the East Khasi Hills district arrested Aklasur Rehman of Jaintiapur in Sylhet district of Bangladesh and seized the fake currency from him, a BSF statement said.
