TURA: The Tura Government College students’ Union has given ten days time to the State government to fulfill its charter of demands failing which it will resort to indefinite fast in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Tura.

The College union’s call for a non cooperation movement throughout West Garo Hills district last week resulted in near total shutdown of all business establishments, educational institutions and brought normal life to a halt with the government severely affected in its functioning.

The union is seeking adequate funds for upgradation of the college infrastructure and early appointment of sufficient lecturers and filling up of vacant posts in several departments.

The leaders of TGCSU informed that if the government fails to fulfill their demands in the stipulated time, its members will begin the hunger strike from August 10.
