Bank stir

The BSNL employees union, North East -1 circle has decided to extend support to Friday’s strike called by the employees of different banks under the banner United Forum of Bank Unions.

Medical camp

The FKJGP Mawlai Circle will organise a free medical camp for heart patients at Phudmuri Dorbar Hall, Mawlai from 10am till 4pm on Saturday. The camp will be attended by doctors and specialists from the Cardiology department of NEIGRIHMS.

Seminar

The Department of Chemistry, Union Christian College, organized a seminar under the IQAC for the science students and teaching staff at the college on Thursday. In the first session the resource person was Professor RHD Lyngdoh. He spoke on the topic “A Chemist view of Natural Phenomenon”. In the second session Professor K.Mohan Rao, Dept. of Chemistry, NEHU, spoke on the topic “Elements of Surprise”.

 Health camp

A free health camp was organised by the New Colony Sarbojonin Durga Puja Committee at New Colony as part of its platinum jubilee celebration on July 31. Around 200 patients received free treatment on this day and 4 doctors (Eye, Dental, General and Gyeno) rendered their services to these patients. A group of 10 students from St Edmunds College (Bio-Chemistry department) also participated in the “Blood-Group”-the findings of the patients. “TIENS”, an organisation of 6 people, rendered its service by demonstrating “indigenous” ways of diagnosis using various instruments.

 Workshop

A workshop on building of employees’ pension database was organised on Thursday by Treasury Office Jaintia Hills, Jowai for all Controlling Officer/ Drawing and Disbursing Officers of Jaintia Hills district, at Kiang Nangbah Government College at Jowai. The workshop was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner T Dkhar. PA Sawian, Joint Director, Accounts & Treasury & OSD Finance Department and B. Lyngskor, Principal Systematic Analyst, NIC Shillong attended the workshop as resource persons. The programme was chaired by JML Bany, Treasury Officer, Jaintia Hills district.
