MELBOURNE: Furious with the delay in payments to Australian players, the Cricketers’ Association Down Under has warned Champions League Twenty20 organisers of an Aussie boycott of the event in future.

According to a report in the ‘Sydney Morning Herald’, “…the Australian Cricketers Association has been given an undertaking by organisers that participation fees will be paid by October 31 this year while prize money will be distributed by February 29 next year.” “We’ve had two disappointing years in terms of the timing of the payments and (have) taken steps to ensure players are paid in an acceptable time period … if that (doesn’t) happen we’ve told them (we’ll) be considering our options,” ACA chief Paul Marsh said.

“(I) don’t want it to be painted as ‘Players won’t play unless they get paid by a certain date,’ but we have made it clear that we will look at our options if there is a repeat of the last two years. (Agencies)
