SHILLONG:The doctors of Dr Gordon Robert ‘s Hospital, Shillong have ruled out the possibility of death of one, Charity Pariong (9) recently due to the brutal beating by her teacher at St John Bosco School, Rambrai-West Khasi Hills.

“The reports are false and baseless as according to the hospital reports, the child was suffering from multiple infection which was actually the cause of her death”, a child specialist of Robert‘s Hospital Dr Susil Nongtrai told reporters here on Saturday.

Further clarifying on the cause of death of Charity, Dr Nongtrai said when the girl was admitted to the hospital on the afternoon of July 27, she was already suffering from fever, cough and vomiting for last one week. On the same day, all the tests were conducted. Her reports the next day, clearly indicated that Charity was suffering from multiple infection.

It may be mentioned that there were allegations that Charity Pariong died after she was brutally beaten by her teacher who was a nun from Mizoram because she (Charity) had forged her parent’s signature in the class test papers.Meanwhile, Sister Helen Puwein of the Salesians of Don Bosco also the principal of the Bellefonte Institute denied allegations regarding the escape of the nun who is known to have beaten the girl.

saying the said nun who belongs to the same Salesians sisters was actually sent to Auxilium School in Shillong as part of the on-going Renewal Updating Course for juniors which takes place every year between July 29 till August 5. “The sister did not escape, she is still there in Auxilium as part of the retreat and does not even know of the allegations until they appeared in the newspaper last week, it is very sad to see false information given to the public like this”, Sister Helen Lamented.

It was mentioned that the matter was resolved between the girl’s parents and the school authority without blaming the sister for the cause of death as according to the sister who was the teacher, the beating was not harsh at all and reports of smashing the girl’s head on the table was all wrong.

“I request the people of Rambrai and other areas of the state to consider investigating the truth first rather than falsely believe in what people say especially when it come to the life and death of a person”, appealed sister Helen.
