JOWAI: Ousted JHADC CEM Lamdibok Sumer has received another shot in the arm with one more MDC, who was earlier in the Hambertus Nongtdu camp, joining the former group.
Following the latest development, Nongtdu, who was recently elected CPP leader by the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) with the support of 15 MDCs, has now being reduced to a minority.
An MDC from the Sumer camp, who did not wish to be named, called up The Shillong Times on Tuesday to inform that that Shangpung MDC Kilometer Lyttan has joined their group in support of Lamdibok Sumer as the leader of the CPP in JHADC.
“We expect more MDCs to join us and support the leadership of Sumer in the near future,” the MDC added. It may be reminded that Mukroh-Barato MDC Rio Sten and Shangpung South MDC Wanbiang Shadap had switched alliance from the Nongtdu camp to the Sumer camp recently.
Sumer now claims the support of 15 MDCs including himself while Nongtdu is in the minority with only 12 MDCs.
Meanwhile, the Nongtdu camp, when contacted, said they were yet to confirm Lyttan’s association with the Lamdibok group.
Alleging that rampant horse trading was on in JHADC, the MDC from the Nongtdu camp claimed that an MDC can be easily bought for Rs 10 to 15 lakh in the JHADC.
The MDC, under conditions of anonymity, also alleged that Congress legislators from Jaintia Hills were divided over the JHADC political crisis with three MLAs supporting Lamdibok while three others allying with the Nongtdu group.
