 SHILLONG: The State Government has decided to introduce State Mission Authority and State Mission Center as a national mission for empowerment of women in the state.

The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved the setting up of two organisations for the socio economic development of women gender in the state.

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has been envisaged as the Chairman and the ministers of the participating departments as its members while the state resource center shall provide requisite support to the state mission authority which will be attached to the Directorate of Social welfare.

The State Mission Authority and State Mission Center would also ensure that women become an integral part of nation building process and eliminate violence against women and focus on issues relating to their health and education.
