Rio greets signatories of Naga Concordant

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has welcomed the signing of the ‘Naga Concordant’ by which the top Naga underground leaders have agreed that Nagas are one on the basis of historical and political rights.

In pursuance of this agreement they have decided to work towards formation of one Naga national government, a message from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat said.

The agreement, which was signed yesterday, is historic and deserves to be welcomed by all sections of Naga society and adherence to it would lead to unity, understanding and oneness of all Nagas, the statement said.

The state government, as a facilitator, welcomed and extended its support to all efforts aimed at unity of Nagas, the release said.

The fourth high-level meet of the Naga rebel leaders on reconciliation resulted in the ‘Naga Concordant’.

The agreement was signed by Isak Chishi Swu, ‘chairman’ and Th Muivah, ‘general secretary’ of NSCN-IM, ‘general’ (Retd) Khole Konyak, ‘chairman’ and Kitovi Zhimomi, ‘general secretary’ of NSCN (Khole) and others. (UNI)
