Footballers, arm wrestlers overlooked

 SHILLONG: The State Government has overlooked the performance of the athletes of two prominent disciplines (football and arm wrestling) while felicitating the sportsperson who brought laurels to the State during various sports events held during 2009 till 2011.

The Government felicitated athletes from all disciplines but left out football and arm wrestling. Shillong Lajong FC players who had made the State proud by making to the I-League have also been overlooked.

Meanwhile, three women arm wrestlers Spirian Nongrang, Mihsngewbha Rymbai and Aiboklin Rina had performed tremendously well during the regional and international events held from 2008 to 2010. Rymbai and Rina won the gold medal during the Natl Arm Wrestling C hampionship2010 held in Manipur while Spirian won the silver medal in the same event.
