JOWAI: The State Government, through the office of the Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, has clarified on the agitation spearheaded by the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) demanding for setting up of an MPSC cell, MBoSE cell and a blood bank in the district.

According to JSU general secretary Rikut N Parien, the student’s body had received an official note from the Deputy Commissioner to clarify on the three points of demands made by the JSU.

As per note, it was informed that the MPSC Cell is being set up at Room No 41 at the DC’s Office with SS Syiemlieh, EAC as Officer on special duty along with one clerical staff who will process all official works in relation to the MPSC. The Officer on Special Duty has joined his office on August 23, it was further mentioned.

In regards to the MBoSE Cell, it was clarified that the State Government has recently approved the setting up of an MBoSE Cell in Jaintia Hills at the Office of the District Education Officer along with staff and officer. Notification on this matter will be issued soon.

Further, it was also clarified that the Government through the department of Health and Family Welfare has completed the process of setting up of a separate blood bank in the District but the delay is due to certain basic requirements to be fulfilled by the Civil Hospital Jowai.

Meanwhile, the JSU, which held an emergency executive meeting here on Wednesday, has decided to adopt a wait and watch policy.

“We don’t want to see our demands only in paper or in files but we want to see the government’s real action so that people of the district would be benefited,” JSU added.
