Nagaland Health Min informs of decreasing HIV prevalence rate

Kohima: Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister Kuzholuzo Nienu has informed that due to unabated efforts by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), Nagaland Legislators Forum of AIDS (LFA) and various NGOs, the present prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS has came down in the state.

Speaking as the chief guest of the final match of the Classic Cup Football Championship at the local ground here on Saturday afternoon, Mr Nienu informed that the HIV prevalence rate was 1.2 per cent and state was in the 2nd place of the highest HIV prevalence states.

He appealed to everyone of the state to join hands with the NSACS and the NGOs to create more awareness among the people, especially in the remote places, so that the prevalence rate could be decreased.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner and Secretary of Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department Menukhol John informed that under the Multi Media Campaign (MMC) for creating awareness through sports, music and festivals is continuing and the Classic Club, also a partner of MMC, and thanked the Classic Club members for creating awareness among the football lovers throughout the Classic Cup Football Championship Tournament with slogans, banners, posters and audio clips.
