One dies in mishap

 NONGSTOIN: A coal- laden truck carrying eight persons skidded off the road near Mawlait village, West Khasi Hills District en-route to Nongstoin last Saturday.

One labourer Stainley Nongphud, a resident of Nongspung village died on the spot while one Pisi Nongbri suffered injuries and was admitted to Nongstoin Civil Hospital. Phen Nongbri who received minor injuries was discharged from the hospital after medical treatment.

Heavy rain fall coupled with landslide is suspected to be the reason behind the accident.

Meanwhile one Rang Kyrshanbor L. Marshillong residentof Pyndengrei, Nongstoin West khasi Hills District drowned in Riwang river by slipping off fromthe stone while fishing on last Saturday.

The body has not been fished out yet.
