SHILLONG: A three day State Level Camp on Astronomy for college students organized recently by the State Council of Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya was concluded in a function at Shillong Science Centre on September 30. The function was presided over by CP Syiem, Programme Officer and RD West K, Member Secretary, SCSTE as Chief Guest.35 students from various colleges in the state attended the three day camp with topics, such as, “how the universe was formed”, “deeper understanding of the universe”, “formation of stars”, “black holes”, “explaining the myth associated with astronomical events” etc. were covered during the programme with audio-visual and hands on activities on astronomy were also organized during the three day event.
UN Deka, General Seccretary, Pragyotish Amateur Astronomy Club, Guwahati and Rahul Chatterjee, Jail Road Boys’ HS School were the resource persons. The programme was organized with a view to popularize the science of astronomy among college students.
