Sarkar seeks PM’s appointment to bail state out of crisis

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to bail the state out of the financial crisis following the implementation of 13th Finance Commission.

Talking to media here today, state finance minister Badal Choudhury said the financial crisis had a cascading impact on the state exchequer.

Tripura was deprived of emergency financial bailout package like those of Assam and West Bengal, he said adding it would have a negative effect on the Centre-state relation.

He also pointed out that interviews for 16,000 vacant posts under different departments of the state government were postponed following financial crisis.

” Unless financial aid reaches, it will hamper the release of all the offers, ” he informed. Speaking on the issue of increasing potential sectors of revenue generation of the state, he said efforts had been made to explore new resources to increase internal revenue, which was now recorded at about 15 per cent.
