Islamabad: At least two people, including a police officer, were killed Friday when gunmen opened fire at a police vehicle here, authorities said.

The gunmen on a motorcycle attacked a police van when it was patrolling in the Sector I-10 area of the city, reported Xinhua.

A police officer and a woman were killed on the spot while another police constable was injured.

The area was quickly cordoned-off. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik Thursday claimed the security agencies had foiled a major terrorist plot to target important buildings in a high-security zone, as they had seized two vehicles carrying arms and explosives.

On Oct 8, the police arrested two terror suspects and also recovered six rockets, 14 hand grenades and four suicide jackets during a raid in the outskirts of the capital. (IANS)
