SHILLONG:The FKJGP Mawlong Unit has demanded PWD (Road) Sohra Division to speed up the construction of the road from Mawsmai-Shella for the benefit of the people of the area.

On receiving complaints from the residents of the area, the union led by its president, Moulden Alya inspected the road recently to find that the road was half constructed causing inconvenience to the people. In a letter sent to the PWD, the union has demanded Executive Engineer PWD (Road) Sohra Division KB Mawkdoh to take up the work seriously as the delay has affected the rural people to a great extend.

Meanwhile, in his reply, Mawkdoh said the reason behind the delay is the unfavorable weather which has made it difficult to go ahead with the work but has assured the union that with the end of the monsoon season, the work will be proceeded in full swing as what is left now is only metalling and black topping.
