SHILLONG: Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya and local MLA of Nongpoh constituency DD Lapang inaugurated the additional school building of Nongrah Umroi Upper Primary School, Ri Bhoi recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Lapang stressed on the importance of education. He lauded the village authorities for their initiative in setting up of school for the benefit of children in particular and for the community as a whole while appreciating the Office of the Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Ri Bhoi District for proper implementation of the SSA scheme in the district.
While advising the school management and the teachers, Lapang said the teachers should offer with qualified education to the students by uplifting the standardization of teachings for the bright future of school children. He also urged the students to work hard and aim high with a strong determination so that they can succeed in life. The day highlighted by songs and dances performed by the school children.
The school was constructed under SSA Scheme at an estimate cost of Rs 6.18 Lakhs.
