SHILLONG: Congress received a boost in Garo Hills when 450 Meghalaya Democratic Party (MDP) members on Tuesday joined the party.

The MDP members led by Lenitha M Sangma formally joined Congress at a function held at the residence of the MPCC working president and former MLA Deborah Marak in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills.

Terming Tuesday’s development as a positive sign for Congress in Garo Hills, Deborah said, “We are hoping to win at least 15 out of the 24 seats in Garo Hills.”
