Two trampled to death by elephants

Mangoldoi (Assam): Two persons were trampled to death by a herd of elephants in Udalguri district on Tuesday, police said.

The rampaging elephants killed one person at Nonoipara and another in the nearby Khura jungles under Panery police station of the district. The agitated local people did not allow police to take the bodies for post-mortem and blocked the Mangaldoi-Gotia Sung Road demanding immediate measures to protect them from elephants. (PTI)
