Combined force nabs 3 militants
Imphal: Three militants belonging to the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) were arrested on Thursday with five kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
They were nabbed by Manipur Police and Assam Rifles personnel at Yumnam Khunou.
Police was enquiring into the reason of possessing IED by the militants. (UNI)
Manipur Rifles jawan injured in militant attack
Imphal: A Manipur Rifles jawan was among two persons injured when militants attacked the house of a government official, officials said on Thursday.
Militants hurled a grenade at the house of chief engineer of public works department Lokendra Singh at Kiyamgei area in Imphal East district at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday night.
In the explosion, a jawan of the 7th Manipur Rifles battalion and a driver of the official was injured, they said adding, the injured were taken to a nearby hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger. Police is investigating whether the attack was linked to a monetary demand from the official. (PTI)
Nagaland Red Cross donates van to NAPAD
Kohima: The Nagaland branch of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCSN) has donated a van to the Nagaland Parents Association for the Disabled (NAPAD) during the flag off programme of Badhte Kadam, 2011 at the Heritage in Kohima.
IRCSN General Secretary Zakie Kire in a press release here informed that the IRCSN had donated the vehicle during the programme on Tuesday last for taking the differently abled students to their respective schools, as well as to carry the members of the NAPAD to attend various programmes in different places. BJP expresses concerns over PDS
Kohima: The Nagaland unit of the BJP on Thursday expressed concern over the advanced issue of 2012 Public Distribution System food stock.
In a statement issued here, the Convener of the Media Cell of Nagaland BJP Jaangsillung Gonmei said the issues were discussed among the state office – bearers, frontal heads and at the cell Conveners’ meeting of the BJP recently, where the members asked how the depleted resources would be made up to supply to the public requirement next year.
