SHILLONG: The CSWO is appalled at the way the Education Department is still trying to clear its stand of being fair and having followed all procedures, with regard to the appointment of LP school teachers.

“Those in government are representatives of the people and  should work in the interest of the general public and not to defend the few corrupt officials,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

She said that no doubt they have followed all the procedures of cheating, manipulation, to the extent that they managed three types of compilation sheets while adding that the score sheets of the Government should be printed at the Government Press and this is a known fact, and the format will be the same for the set of thousands of sheets.

CSWO president said that there cannot be a mistake once the format is set. “But in this case, the Government press printed 3 types of sheets for the examination which gives a glaring indication there is manipulation and surgeries. This is only one such example as there could be many such manipulations during the course of recruitment of the assistant teachers to the Government lower primary schools,” Kharshiing alleged. She said that she is surprised that the government’s so called legal experts could not detect and instead, advising the government to file an appeal while adding that no wonder government is losing all important cases with such legal experts.

Earlier, Education Minister Prof RC Laloo had said that they would contest the ruling of the Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court on the alleged anomalies in the appointment of teachers.
