Assembly team visits Bhutan

SHILLONG: A delegation of the Meghalaya Assembly Secretariat led by Speaker Charles Pyngrope and accompanied by GAD Minister AL Hek recently undertook a three-day official tour to Bhutan.

The delegation met Bhutan Prime Minister Gyalyong Tshogkhang and discussed ways and means to improve ties between Meghalaya and Bhutan, particularly in the field of education. The delegation also met Jigme Tshultim, Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan and besides members of parliament of the Himalayan nation. The meetings deliberated on functioning of the respective Assemblies and felt the need for exchanging visits of MPs/MLAs to strengthen parliamentary ties.

Both sides agreed that the meetings would act as precursor to strengthening of ties between the two sides.
