N’land CM condoles Bhupen Hazarika’s demise
GUWAHATI: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has condoled the death of legendary music composer and singer Dr Bhupen Hazarika, who breathed his last on November 5. In a condolence message to Dr Hazarika’s family on Monday, Mr Rio said, ”The sad demise of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was a great shock to the people of the country, especially the people of Assam and the North East.” Praising Dr Hazarika’s ability to unite the NE region with the world, he said in Dr Hazarika’s death, the country has lost one of its ‘greatest lyric legendaries and a poetic champion’. ”I, on my behalf and on behalf of the government of Nagaland, extend my heartfelt condolences to all the members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty God to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the message read. Man detained with magazine
AGARTALA: A man stated to be mentally unstable was on Monday detained from a court complex at Kamalpur in Dhalai district, with a Belgium-made magazine of a SLR rifle, police said. A police constable spotted the middle-aged looking like a vagabond in the sub-divisional court complex at Kamalpur town close to Indo-Bangladesh border and found a loaded magazine from him. The man was found to be mentally unstable, adding they were trying to ascertain if he was a spy of any foreign country. (PTI)
