Wahingdoh create history

 SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC (RWFC) has become the first club from Shillong to make it to the final of the Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy on Tuesday.

RWFC reached the final after defeating arch rival Ar-Hima in the first semi-final by a solitary goal at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The winning goal for RWFC was scored by Perry S Kolie from a free kick taken by Kareem Nurain in the 27th minute.

RWFC would face the winner of the second semi-final to be played between Langsning SC and Green Valley, Assam on Wednesday. The final is scheduled for Friday.

In 2004, Shillong XI, which had players from all the culbs of Shillong, was defeated by Union Brothers, Bangladesh in the final by a solitary goal.That was the last time that a team from Shillong had featured in the final of the tournament.
