SHILLONG: The inflow of immigrants to Majai, an Indo-Bangla border area at Shella, East Khasi Hills has caught the attention of the FKJGP East Khasi Hills District who have decided to hold a mass gathering which would include the Syiem, Sirdar, the local residents besides others to discuss the matter.

The FKJGP East Khasi Hills t led by its president Elton C Warjri visited this area on Tuesday along with members of the FKJGP Southern Riwar Zone and discovered the reason behind the sudden increase of immigrants to this area.

“The local residents of this area are the ones who should be blamed; most of them are involved in Benami transaction. There is a need to put a stop to this as there is a fear that it might reach to a point where we cannot control these immigrants”, Information-Secretary FKJGP East Khasi Hills District, Kitboklang Nongphlang said.

The organisation has decided to hold a mass gathering in the coming days between the Syiem, the Sirdar and the local residents to discuss on this matter at the same time warned those people who are willing to sell their lands to a foreigner for their own personal benefit.
