UDP-KHNAM merger: Paul meets Speaker

Shillong: KHNAM president Paul Lyngdoh met Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope on Friday to inform him about his party’s merger with the UDP.

When contacted, Lyngdoh said that he had requested the Assembly Speaker to recognise him as a UDP MLA.

“I have also requested the Speaker to make necessary arrangements about my seating arrangements in the House,” the KHNAM president said.

He also said that there would not be any problem for the Speaker to address his request since it was under the provisions laid down in the 10 Schedule of the Constitution. While informing that the formal induction of the KHNAM to the UDP would be held on December 12, Lyngdoh said that they would be writing to the Election Commission about de-registering of KHNAM by incorporating the resolution which would be passed by the UDP Central Executive Committee (CEC).

“We would be attaching the resolutions of both the UDP and the General Council in our representation to the Election Commission,” Lyngdoh said.
