KOLKATA: Strict action will be taken against the AMRI doctors if they are found guilty of having left patients during the fire at AMRI hospital which killed 93 people on December nine, West Bengal Disaster Management Minister Javed Khan said.
”If it transpires in the Enquiry that the doctors fled leaving behind the patients to die, then strict action will be taken against them,” Mr Khan said.
It was alleged that most of the doctors and hospital staff members had fled after the fire broke out.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) denied that medical ethics demand a doctor to leave a place of disaster. IMA West Bengal unit President Malay Kumar Patra said that in such situations doctors should should see that the patients are rescued. (UNI)
