SHILLONG: The general executive council of the Khasi Student’s Union in a meeting held recently decided to send a letter to its units and Dorbar Shnong directing them to verify the work permit of every immigrant working on a daily wage in the state to assure that everything goes as per the rules laid by the state government.
“We will send a letter to all our units as well as the Dorbar Shnong to carefully verify the work permit of the immigrants and also to carry the burden for the welfare of the indigenous community”, KSU central body general secretary Hamlet Dohling said.
Dohling mentioned that this movement has been carried out by the union for a long time and now that the government has implemented the Work Permit, it is up to them to see that the rule is being carried out smoothly and prevent the rampant influx of immigrants into the state.
