Implementation of vocational education

 SHILONG: The IGNOU Institute of Vocational Education and Training (IIVET), has joined hands with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for widespread implementation of vocational education and training programmes which is aimed for the marginalized youths.

The Shillong center which is headed by Ananya Guha, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in charge of the center initiates to further the skill development strategies amongst the youths, by adopting courses that are hands on and in tune with necessity of the place and the region.

According to OSD,workshops for schoolteachers on folk theatre of the North-East have been organized for which a credit course shall soon be introduced at the IGNOU center besides, a course on translation of Khasi from English has also been developed.

 Sixteen IGNOU programmes have been identified under RIVET to be offered to students at the Regional Centers.
