Nongstoin Circuit House inaugurated after 27 years

 NONGSTOIN: The ironical Nongstoin Circuit House which has been under construction for the past 27 years was finally inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh in the presence of GAD minister A.L Hek and MLA Hoping Stone Lyngdoh on Tuesday.

Addressing the inauguration Rowell Lyngdoh, lauded the efforts taken by GAD, local DC, PWD, local contractors with special reference to the personal interest taken by GAD minister A.L Hek by whose tremendous efforts the 27 year long Nongstoin Circuit House construction was finally be completed.

He urged upon the people of Nongstoin and every tourist who stays in the Circuit House to maintain and preserve it, so that the beauty of the Circuit House can last long.

P.W Ingty IAS, Principal Secretary GAD attributed Nongstoin Circuit House as a good asset which will immensely encourages tourism in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, GAD minister Hek said that it is a dream come true.He urges upon each and every one who stays and will accommodate in the Circuit House to preserve for generation to come.

He also urged upon the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills district to keep the Circuit House as a commercial asset for all type of tourists. He hoped that Nongstoin Circuit House will serve better than the famous Pine Wood Hotel of Shillong in terms of environment.

The construction of Nongstoin Circuit House was approved by the state government on November 16, 1984 with a sum of Rs. 19.00 lakh. The amount has was revised with Rs. 70.6 lakh during the year 1993. The same was revised once again in the year 2009 with a sum of Rs. 199.32 lakh and finally the building was inaugurated on December 20, 2011 after a long construction of 27 years.
