‘Laban Week’ unites youths from all walks of life

SHILLONG: “Greater Laban is a very good example of brotherhood as we celebrate Id, Moharram, Xmas, Chhath Puja, Durga Puja, Diwali and other religious festivals, together. It sends a good example of communal harmony,” said Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shulai, during the closing ceremony of Laban Week. The December 5-30 Laban Week, a get together of youth, is organized by Seng Samla Laban.

Rangbah Shnong, Laban E Kharwanlang,said that the Laban Week is an initiative to unite youth from different walks of life.

The closing ceremony started at the Laban Sports Club Ground at 1pm on Friday. A cultural dance programme by the students of Gandhar – a city based socio-cultural organization – was presented.

The top three winners of the dancing competition organized during the Laban Week earlier also presented their rendition in the afternoon. The audience came to their feet as the First Prize winner of the dancing competition “Kumar and Group” enlivened the Club Ground with their mixture of break dance and hip hop style.

Similarly, the top three winners of the singing competition enthralled the audience with their scores. One such singer Aaron Mylliemngap presented a self composed song which was dedicated to the event Laban Week.

Besides these another dance sequence was presented by Kumar & Group and Aaron & Group.

A rendition of hip hop band stage in stage out was presented by SUK and Daker followed by Salsa dancing.

A series of rock band stage in stage out was presented by Terrar Neulius, Out of Touch, 11th Hour and Kross Feat and Rangdap (Rock Band). A DJ rendition was also presented by Aedrian and Sev.

Prizes were also distributed to winners of different competitions being held during the Laban Week.
