Mawshynrut HSPDP members resign en masse

SHILLONG: In a major setback, more than two hundred supporters and senior members of HSPDP of Mawshynrut constituency recently resigned from primary and active membership of the party.

Informing this here on Wednesday, former HSPDP senior leader from Mawshynrut Shimborlin Marweiñ said that the senior members and supporters of the party who have resigned belong  to as many as ten units of Riangdo area in West Khasi Hills  while adding that this decision for enmasse resignation was taken during a general meeting which took place on December 30.

Meanwhile, he informed that a similar  party meeting  was held on January 3, at famous  Ri Lyngngam  centre, Maweit in  which more than 150 area leaders and supporters of  the party  have resigned  from primary membership Maweit  area has as many  as  7  Units  or polling  booths.

He further informed  that a similar meeting  of party  leaders and workers would  be convened  at Shahlang, another Ri Lyngngam famous commercial centre, next week to chalk out future course of action.

According to Marwein, the reason behind this drastic step was in protest against illegal  and  high handed steps taken by HSPDP top  leaders  in selection  of  candidate from  the  party for the 2013 general elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from  Mawshynrut Constituency.
