SHILLONG: A day after the surrender of a GNLA cadre, the State police on Sunday recovered one AK-47 along with 150 rounds of live ammunition which were hidden in a jungle in West Garo Hills.

The arm and ammunitions were hidden by the GNLA cadre Sonaram Sangma alias Chonkam who had surrendered on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a police official while informing about the recovery of the arm and ammunitions said that the GNLA cadre had surrendered due to growing frustration. Many a times, the junior cadres are sidelined by the senior cadres which was another reason for Chonkam’s surrender, the official added.
