SHILLONG: The city witnessed another overcast condition on Monday as temperature was at a bare minimum throughout the day with moderate rainfall. However, in the evening the condition changed a bit with sunny spells.
According to weather expert from the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati cyclonic circulation is extending up to 2.1 km over Assam, Meghalaya and other northeastern states persisted. “As a result cold wave conditions will be experienced along with rainfall in these states,” said the weather official.
Meanwhile, the general public remained mostly indoors on Monday and the roads in the town were mostly deserted. Many offices in the city wore a deserted look as attendance was short.
A state government employee said, “Well for the last few days into the new year we have already experienced at least two coldest days so far,” adding that such days may be stored in the near future, too.
Though the upper air circulation is extending up to 4.5 km in Jammu and Kashmir, the same is extending up to western UP and other parts of Northern India. “This cold wave and foggy situation is a countrywide phenomenon now as weather is more or less same everywhere,” said a Shillongite who was in the national capital recently. The weather expert from RMC said that cold wave conditions is prevailing in entire northern India and at isolated parts of Nagaland, Manipur,Mizoram, Meghalaya and other parts of India.
