New Delhi: The Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) has been awarded for being the best performing transport body in the Northeast for 2009-10.

The award, presented by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings, which is an official body of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, was received by the Resident Commissioner Pankaj Jain on behalf of the MTC.

ASRTU is headed by the Secretary, Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, as the ex-officio President. The Association is actively involved in promotion of public transport.
