NEW DELHI: Ministry for the Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) in association with the Ministry of Culture has set up a North East Cultural Centre (NECC) here to promote, protect and propagate the rich cultural heritage of the North Eastern Region (NER) in the country.
The main objective to set up this centre is facilitating the awareness about the rich and diverse cultural heritage and tradition as well as modern expression of creativity of the North Eastern States (NES). It would provide a platform for youth from the NES and other States to interact and share creative ideas and other cultural forms.
Moreover, it will provide content relating to dissemination of the culture of the NES for training of teachers in CCRT.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on December 2, 2011 between Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), here with North Eastern Council(NEC), Shillong to set up a Centre of North Eastern Culture in the Campus of CCRT Headquarter here at Dwarka. The Centre will work under the overall management and control of the Director General, CCRT, while NEC shall furnish the space provided by CCRT as a one time non-recurring expenditure and shall also bear the recurring expenditure of the Centre.
NEC will also pay remuneration of a Consultant and a General Duty executive. (UNI)
