SHILLONG: In a bid to prepare the Shillong Police for the rising cyber crimes, a five-day training programme was conducted at the Cyber Forensic Centre at Golf Links here on Friday.
Speaking at the valedictory function, DGP N Ramachandran urged the police officers to brace themselves for the prevention and detection of the cyber crimes.
To put a stop to the cyber crimes in the state, the State police has already issued certain guidelines to the cyber cafes with strict directives. Cyber café owners now have to seek identification proof from every user before they log in. Besides, they have also been asked to maintain log books with details of the
users on a daily basis.
According to Ramachandran, most of the crimes and even wars will be fought in the cyber space in times to come.
The training programme was conducted by C Das, director Kolkata and State Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The State FSL has also agreed to provide expertise in handling cyber crimes in future.
A further advanced training will also be conducted next month.
