Two die of food poisoning

GUWAHATI: Two persons have died and 10 others are battling for lives due to food poisoning in Assam’s Udalguri district on Sunday, official sources said. The victims fell ill after having pork meat during a community feast at Hagramari village of the district. Two persons died on way to the hospital. The seriously ill have been admitted to the hospital and the dead have been identified as Sunen Mushahary and Mijing Basumatary. (PTI)

Businessman shot

NAGAON (ASSAM): A businessman was shot at and seriously injured by unidentified men here in Assam’s Nagaon here on Sunday, police said. Two motorcycle-borne youths fired at two businessmen brothers travelling in another bike, injuring the pillion rider. The injured, identified as Shyam Das, has been shifted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. The assailants managed to escape. (PTI)

Manipur militants held

GUWAHATI: Ahead of Republic Day, two militants belonging to separatist outfits People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and Kanglei Yawol Kunna Lup(KYKL) of Manipur were arrested here on Saturday, police said. (PTI)
