London: Mitch Winehouse, father of singer Amy Winehouse, has branded Jean Paul Gaultier’s catwalk fashion tribute to the late star as being “in bad taste”.
The French designer, who has long been inspired by pop stars in his couture work, saluted Winehouse during his show at Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday by sending his models down the runway sporting the star’s beehive hairstyle and heavy eyeliner, the Telegraph online reported. Several models, who wore Gaultier’s latest creations, also smoked cigarettes in tribute to the late British singer.
“We don’t support the Jean Paul Galtier (sic) collection. It’s in bad taste.
The family was upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock. “We’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy’s death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on,” Mitch said Amy, 27, died July last year at at her home after drinking too much alcohol. (PTI)
