BHOPAL/ DEWAS: The little boy who was made to take a bath under tap on a tableau of Dewas Municipal Corporation on the Republic Day was given only a samosa and Rs five for taking part, he told reporters on Monday.
The boy (6) identified as Sunny told mediapersons who finally located him on Monday that “a bald person came to me and said that he would be given a samosa and Rs five for taking a bath under the tap following which I agreed.”
The incident of a minor boy taking a bath under the cold water tap on a tableau of Dewas Municipal Corporation has become a major issue with the Madhya Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MPSCPCR) taking a cognisance of the matter and issued notices to the concerned authorities.
The in-charge minister of Dewas District, Jagdish Devda also directed the Collector and SP to take strict action against those responsible for the incident.
Dewas MP and senior Congress leader, Sajjan Singh Verma too demanded the state government suspend the Collector and SP for their alleged insensitivity towards the boy who was shivering in the cold while they were enjoying the parade in full warm clothes on the occasion of Republic Day.
When the spectators saw that the boy was shivering because of continuous flow of cold water, the attention of the concerned authorities was drawn following which he was shifted from the place and given warm clothes, sources said. (PTI)
