SHILLONG: The State government has issued a lookout notice for Vijay Kumar Kalewa alias Biju for his alleged involvement in illegal diversion of PDS items.

Police recently seized a huge quantity of rice and sugar allegedly meant for distribution under the PDS from the godown of two city-based businessmen – Nitesh Agarwal and Nand Kishore Agarwal – at Iew Mawlong after permission from the court.

367 sacks of rice and 35 sacks of sugar were seized by the police from the godown.

Subsequently, the administration ordered a magisterial inquiry.

The magisterial inquiry into the alleged diversion of the PDS rice into the ‘black market’, headed by M Diengdoh, in its report had recommended filing of an FIR against the manager of the wholesaler, L Surong, Biju who is absconding.

Biju is wanted under the Essential Commodities Act (R/W section 12 of prevention of corruption act).
