SHILLONG: The Delhi Meghalaya House has always been in news for wrong reasons.
This time it is over allocation of contract to operate the canteen there.
According to sources, all the seven bidders who had submitted tender papers to operate the canteen were asked to come to Delhi on Monday for opening of tender papers.
Five bidders, who had turned up for Monday’s meeting, were caught by surprise when the Delhi Meghalaya House administration announced its decision not to open tender papers.
“All the five bidders were told that they would be informed over telephone who would be allotted the contract,” sources said adding that they suspected the authorities might manipulate in tender process.
To ensure total transparency tender papers are opened in front of all the bidders to find out the lowest bidder, sources said adding that the lowest bidder normally gets the work.
Meanwhile, sources alleged that the authorities are planning to allot the contract to operate the canteen to a close aide of a senior politician.
