SHILLONG: The CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing has come under limelight after she has been alleged of betraying Amita Sangma, a widow and mother of seven by selling off her case at Rs two lakh with the help of her lawyer friend, Poonam Yadav to one, Bremila Sangma. Amita had gone to Kharshiing three years ago for help but in vain.

Talking to media persons here on Monday, Amita Sangma alleged that Kharshiing has turned back from her promise to help her get the pension of her late husband, Nitrosen D Sangma who died in 2008 after it was claimed by another woman, Bremila Sangma.

“I was helpless, so I went to Agnes where she had even promised to go to court and claim what is rightfully mine. But to my dismay, after one year , the case was dismissed and Bremila Sangma who claimed to be my husband’s wife won the case”, Amita said.

Amita also alleged that Agnes had sent some of her members to her house at Madanriting to get rid of her on Saturday last.

When asked the reason behind this, Amita replied “I think Agnes wanted to get rid of me because I know so much about the jailbreak issue and her extorting money from former MDC of JHADC, Thomas Nongtdu because I accompanied her when she went to meet him and out of the amount she got, she also gave me Rs 10,000”.

Amita also informed that she has appealed to the High Court to re-open her case.
