Five-day book exhibition in city

SHILLONG: A 5-day Book Exhibition opening February 13-17 is underway at the All Saint’s Hall organized by The Standard Literature Co. (P) Ltd. (TSLCPL). This year the book fair has many new arrivals, appreciated by one and all.

The Britannica Encyclopedia, a 32 volume set is on offer. Besides this, other new Britannica books on world leaders, philosopher, human body is also available. One of the rarest books on display is the “Complete Works of Michelangelo”. “This book has the original works of Michelangelo and it weighs 10kg, which is unbelievable. In terms of book weight this is a unique thing,” said Amal Chatterjee, Manager, TSLCPL adding that the response to the fair is very good.

The fair also has books on Picasso, Dali, New and Old Testament, Paintings, Religions and other. Also on display are feminine items such as Yoga Mind & Body, Reflexology, Quick & Easy Series Best Work, Baby & Child Care and others. For those interested in cookeries, this is the right place to get hold of their favorite books on cookeries.

One of the best sellers of TSLCPL is “The Complete Guide to Cocktails and Drinks” besides there are books on environment, biodiversity which has even been selected by some visiting faculties from NEHU recently.

“Shillong is an intellectual city and people here go after all types of books be it Literature, Indian Cuisines, General Books or Children Books,” Amal said.

TSLCPL conducts book fairs round the year all over the country and the biggest response they received was in Karnataka. In the region, they have good sale in Shillong, Aizawl and Dibrugarh. TSLCPL also takes online orders.Book lovers appreciated the book fair, too. “I have made it a point to visit TSLCPL book fair whenever they come here,” said a mother of a school going student from Riatsamthiah.A resident from nearby Lachaumiere said that this year there are many new arrivals which made the exhibition more attractive.
