NSCN (K) ‘officer’ killed, civilian hurt in Kohima firing

Kohima: One NSCN (Khaplang) ‘officer’ was killed and a civilian injured when the car they were travelling in was ambushed by some unidentified gunmen on the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Road here on Friday morning.

Official sources said two persons travelling in the car towards the Nagaland Civil Secretariat were ambushed by the assailants with a volley of bullets.

The NSCN (K) ‘officer’, identified as one Kahovi Zhimomi, was hit by four bullets on his shoulder, right thigh and head. He died on the spot.

The civilian, identified as Nipahoto, the owner of the ambushed car, was reportedly a part-time announcer of All India Radio, Kohima and worked with a Sumi dialect newspaper.

He was hit by two bullets on his shoulder and right thigh and said to be out of danger. The body of the Kahovi has been kept in North Police Station. (UNI)
