SHILLONG: The North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) has decided to take upon the responsibility of resolving the boundary disputes of the various states in the region.

The NECCC decision was taken during a meeting in New Delhi on Thursday.

The NECCC has also decided to assign the task of resolving the border disputes among the Northeastern states to DD Lapang and SC Jamir, former chief ministers of Meghalaya and Nagaland respectively. The two veteran Congress leaders have been entrusted the task of meeting Congress chief ministers of the Northeastern states to deliberate on the issue.

Majority of the N-E states have failed to find an acceptable solution to the long-pending disputes with their neighbours.

Meanwhile, the NECCC also dwelt on the prevailing law and order and insurgency problems in the Northeastern Region.
