SHILLONG: The complaint of many youths against the Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board for foul play when it comes to selecting candidates is baseless.

The Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board had advertised for one single post of stenographer Grade III recently and the result of the eligible candidates to appear for interview was announced on Friday last. Only 26 out of the 99 applicants were selected and the other 73 were rejected due to silly and careless mistakes.

“These youths were rejected based on silly mistakes and lack of responsibility. They are too careless when it comes to filling of forms, submission of documents etc inspite of having mentioned it clearly on the application forms”, Chairperson of the MSSWB, OB Tariang told reporters here on Friday. She said that since this post is approved by the Government of India, the order of selection is also very detailed and proper scrutiny was done during the selection selection in presence of representative from the central government.
